Emerged Beauty: Bringing Aesthetic Treatments to Your Doorstep
Emerged Beauty is a mobile aesthetics practice founded by Monique Spears, a board-certified family nurse practitioner specializing in Xeomin injections. The practice offers convenient, high-quality, non-surgical cosmetic enhancements delivered directly to clients, making self-care accessible for busy professionals. “With Emerged Beauty, self-care has never been this accessible,” says Monique.
Spears became a client of the Illinois SBDC at SIU after learning about the Carbondale Accelerator Program through a friend. “I was having trouble launching my business due to a lack of knowledge on how to run a business,” she shared.
The Carbondale Accelerator Program, a 10-week course designed for start-ups, covers essential topics like business registration, planning, financials, branding, marketing, and building an online presence. Students also meet one-on-one with SBDC business advisors for personalized guidance.
“Advisors Yemisi Anderson, Aimee Wigfall, and Michael Jessup were very helpful,” Monique said. Aimee discovered that Monique’s business had been involuntarily dissolved due to issues with an external registered agent. “This saved me money and helped me get my company back up and running,” Monique explained. Now, her business is active, and she plans to open for bookings at the beginning of 2025.
At the end of the program, participants compete in a business pitch competition. Monique delivered an award-winning pitch, earning first place and $5,000 in prize money to support her business launch.
“Working with the SBDC at SIU was such a great experience. I learned so much, and it helped me overcome the fear I had about launching my business. Now I feel equipped with the knowledge I need to begin my entrepreneurship journey,” Monique said.
Monique plans to expand Emerged Beauty’s services, engage with the community, and identify additional beauty needs in the area. With her newfound confidence and support, she is ready to make self-care even more accessible across Southern Illinois.
