The journey to establish True Nature Holistic Arts began in 2023 when its founder purchased and renovated an old building to create the studio. While the dream was clear, the challenges of running a business, planning marketing strategies, and achieving financial success were daunting. Seeking guidance, the founder turned to the Illinois Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Southern Illinois University, a resource she first learned about in graduate school. With the support of knowledgeable advisors, including Michael Jessup, Aimee Wigfall, Yemisi Anderson, and Amy Dion, she received invaluable assistance in crafting a business plan, running financial projections, and implementing effective marketing strategies. The SBDC's workshops and one-on-one guidance provided practical tools and a sense of reassurance as she launched her business.
Six months into operation, True Nature Holistic Arts is thriving, thanks to the support and expertise provided by the SBDC team. The founder describes the experience as excellent, noting the top-notch classes and the advisors’ exceptional knowledge and dedication. With their continued support, she plans to expand her offerings by adding a dance studio, further enriching the holistic wellness community she has built.
