Business learning workshops aim to provide attendees with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to be more effective in their jobs and achieve their professional goals. Facilitated by experienced business professionals or trainers, they cover a wide range of topics, including leadership, project management, communication, marketing, finance, and sales. SBDC Starting Your Business in Illinois

Interested in starting your own business but have questions? Join us for Starting Your Business in Illinois workshop where an advisor will discuss the basics of getting started and answer any questions you may have. This workshop is no-cost and will be held in-person at the Dunn-Richmond Building on the SIU Campus. 1740 Innovation Drive, Carbondale, IL 62903. For questions call 618-536-2424.

The Make Me Bankable (MMB) is a financial literacy program aimed at combating misunderstandings of credit, improving business financial operations, and increasing bankability. This program will help develop fiscally responsible citizens and foster the creation of local small businesses.

This no-cost opportunity will help start your journey in a credit and money management program. Hurry--spots are limited!

About the program

Participants will who complete the course will get a one-on-one credit counseling session with a Operation Hope counselor who will continue to assist the participant through their journey. 

After the credit counseling session, participants wanting to start a small business will have the opportunity to enroll in the Entrepreneurial Track Program (ETP). The ETP is an 8-week course that provides an in-depth view of what entrepreneurialism is and how to approach starting their business. After ccompletion of the ETP, the SBA will have the 'Landing Pad' for the participants to graduate to. The 'Landing Pad' will be a platform to help companies adjust operations to change line items on a company's financial statements in order to meet banking credit criteria.
